Tiananmen Square is located inin the center of Beijing, 880 meters long from north to south, 500 meters wide from east to west, covering an area of 440,000 square meters, and able to accommodate one million people for a grand gathering.Inside the square, along the central axis of Beijing, there is the National Flagpole, the Monument to the People’s Heroes, the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, and the Zhengyangmen City Tower, in that order from north to south.
On October 1, 1949, the inauguration ceremony of the Central People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China, also known as the National Day Ceremony, was held in Tiananmen Square, and the People’s Republic of China was born!A new chapter in Chinese history began.On the day of the founding ceremony, 300,000 military and civilians gathered in Tiananmen Square in Beijing.Since then, Tiananmen Square has become an important venue for the Party and the state to hold major celebrations, grand gatherings, and receptions for foreign dignitaries.
1. Security checks at Tiananmen Square are very strict, and knives, sharp objects, etc. may be prohibited from being brought in.In addition, the security check queues can be long, so if you don’t bring a bag, you can enter more quickly.
2. Visitors can make a reservation for a tour within the next 10 days through the information on the reservation channel.Groups that have difficulty using intelligent terminals, such as the elderly, primary and secondary school students, and people with disabilities, may have their reservations made by friends or family members. For those who have difficulty having their reservations made by friends or family members, on-site assistance with the reservation service is also available.Tourists who have made reservations for open units such as the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, the National Museum, the Palace Museum, Zhongshan Park, and the Beijing Working People’s Cultural Palace can simply show the on-site staff a valid reservation record.
3. Appointments are divided into four time periods: “Flag Raising”, “Morning”, “Afternoon” and”Flag-lowering” period, which is divided into four time slots: “Flag-raising” period is from the opening time of Tiananmen Square (one hour before the flag-raising ceremony) to the end of the flag-raising ceremony.The “morning” period is from the end of the daily flag-raising ceremony to 12:00.The “afternoon” period is from 12:00 every day until Tiananmen Square is closed in the evening.The “flag-lowering” period is one hour before the flag-lowering time each day until the time Tiananmen Square is closed for the night.Each time slot can be reserved once a day.
4. After a reservation is successfully made, it can be cancelled. Each reservation can be cancelled up to 3 times per day. After more than 3 cancellations, no further reservations can be made for that day.You can click “Reservation History” on the homepage of the reservation platform to open the reservation history interface, find the reservation record you want to cancel, and click the “Cancel Reservation” button.
5. If the verification is not completed after a successful reservation and the reservation is not cancelled, it will be considered a no-show.Tourists who have made multiple time slot reservations and have had one successful verification on the same day will not be considered as having missed the reservation.
6. Visitors can make reservations for multiple days or multiple time slots within a day. Visitors who have missed three or more appointments within one month will not be allowed to make any more reservations for six months.
