China Beijing Military Museum of the Chinese People’s Revolution

The Chinese People’s Revolution Military Museum (hereafter referred to as the “Military Museum”) is China’s first comprehensive military museum. It is located atNo. 9 Fuxing Road.The Exhibition Building was built in October 1958, completed in July 1959, and officially opened on August 1, 1960. It was one of the top ten buildings in the capital city dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. In September 2012, the Military Museum began to reinforce and renovate the Exhibition Building, which was completed in July 2017.After the reinforcement and renovation, the exhibition building has a construction area of 153,000 square meters and 43 exhibition halls (areas), with an exhibition area of nearly 59,000 square meters.The main building is 94.7 meters high, with four floors on each of the north and south sides, and a huge 6-meter-diameter emblem of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army on the roof.

The Military Museum is mainly engaged in collecting, researching and displaying cultural relics, objects, documents and materials that reflect the history of the military struggle led by the Communist Party of China and the achievements of the construction of the people’s army, as well as those that reflect thefive thousand years of military history and world military history.Organize various thematic, current affairs and commemorative exhibitions focusing on the central work of the Party, the state and the military.Receive visits from domestic and foreign guests and audiences.Organize relevant academic research and artistic creation.Organize business exchanges with museums at home and abroad.It has 10 middle-level units under its jurisdiction, including the General Office, Editorial Research Office, Publicity and Education Office, Design and Art Office, Collection Solicitation and Storage Office, Cultural Relics Protection Office, Information and Data Office, Safety and Security Office, Tongzhou Branch, and Huairou Branch.It also has an academic committee, an art committee, and a cultural relics appraisal committee.
