A great place to enjoy the autumn
Fragrant Hill is a great place to enjoy the autumn in Beijing.Every autumn, the entire mountain is dyed a fiery red as the Chinese fringe trees turn bright red after being bathed in the frost.Among them, Moriyuhu, Yuhuaxiu and Langfeng Pavilion are all excellent places to see the red leaves. After a heavy snowfall in late autumn, the rolling green mountains are covered in white, with patches of reddish clouds in the midst of the white, just as depicted in “Xiyang Snowy Day”, one of the Eight Views of Old Beijing.
Appreciate cultural relics and historical sites
Fragrant Hills Park was founded nearly 900 years ago.As early as the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, the imperial court built a summer palace in Xiangshan, and every summer and autumn, the emperor would come here to hunt and cool off.The park is full of cultural relics and historical sites, with pavilions and halls scattered among the mountains and forests. The Biyun Temple, which combines architectural styles from the Ming and Qing dynasties; the rare “Five Hundred Arhats” in the country, made of wood and covered in gold leaf; the “Palace of Great Wisdom” where the sixth Panchen Lama was welcomed; and the elegant “Jianxin Zhai” courtyard, which has a distinct Jiangnan stylethe quaint courtyard “Jianxin Zhai” is also a must-visit attraction in addition to the red leaves.
In addition, the Shuangqing Villa on the southeastern slope of Xiangshan Temple is also a must-visit.
