There is also a small lake next to it, which you can visit one by one.At the same time, being at the foot of the north and south city gates of the scenic area, you can admire the tall and majestic city gates. The Great Wall connected to the city gates is in the shape of a Chinese character “╚╦” on the hillside, which is very special. The inns and restaurants in the scenic area are also located here.
Climbing the Great Wall
After visiting the city walls, you can start your journey to climb the Great Wall. It usually takes two to three hours to climb to the top beacon tower, which is a physical challenge. However, once you reach the top, you can see one of the famous “Eight Views of Beijing,” “Juyong Diecui,” in the distance. The rolling green mountains and the open view are heart-soothing.
There will be public toilets and a small shop selling snacks and drinks along the way, but the prices are higher than outside. If you have enough physical strength, you can bring your own snacks and drinks. It is recommended to bring high-calorie foods such as chocolate and raisins to replenish your energy. The Great Wall in this section is relatively steep, with 40 cm high steps and 20-30 cm high gentle steps. Moreover, due to long-term wear and tear, some parts are uneven, so you must be extra careful. After climbing the Great Wall, you can choose to return the same way, or you can descend from the Great Wall in the other direction and return to the scenic square.
