Introduction
The Hall of Leaders is locatedon the central axis of Tiananmen Square, just south of the Monument to the People’s Heroes.The leader is buried here, and every day, there are endless streams of tourists who come here to pay their respects to his remains.The memorial hall has two floors. The first floor is mainly for paying tribute to the leader’s remains, and the second floor is a memorial room for revolutionary achievements.Individual tourists can only visit the first floor, and the second floor requires a group organized by the unit.First floor: Viewing the leader’s remains The first floor is composed of three parts: the North Hall, the Viewing Hall, and the South Hall.The north hall is the entrance to the memorial hall and the place where commemorative ceremonies are held.Moving forward in order, you come to the Hall of Reflection, the highlight of the trip.The leader, dressed in a gray Mao suit and covered in party flags, is lying in a crystal coffin.Because you have to line up to pay your respects, you can’t linger in the hall. Many people stand in line for an hour or two just to pay their respects to the great man’s remains for a few minutes.Second floor: relive the story of the revolution. If you go there as a group organized by your workplace, you can see statues and related photos, documents and objects in the memorial room on the second floor. In addition, in the movie theater, you can watch the 20-minute documentary “Remembering”.

All year round: Tuesday to Sunday 08:00-12:00; all year round: Monday closed; New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labour Day,Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day 08:00-12:00 open, opening hours may be adjusted for anniversaries and events in Tiananmen Square
Must-see tips
1. Visitors should dress appropriately and remove their hats when paying their respects.Wearing vests, slippers, etc. will be refused entry.
2. Cameras, food, liquids, school bags and other items must be stored at the baggage storage office across the road on the east side of the square (cameras are charged separately). It is recommended to bring as little luggage as possible.
3. The atmosphere inside the memorial hall is very solemn. No loud noise or talking is allowed, and no photos are allowed either. Mobile phones need to be switched off or set to silent mode.
4. During peak season, there are very long queues and there is almost no shelter in the square, so be careful to protect yourself from the sun.
