Introduction
The Three Gorges Museum is located on the west side of Chongqing’s People’s Square. The museum houses tens of thousands of cultural relics, including bronze ware from Ba and Shu, Han Dynasty sculptures, and other types of artwork, which showcase the development history of this mountain city.The “Magnificent Three Gorges” exhibition hall in the museum also contains a large collection of physical objects from the Three Gorges reservoir area, which truly recreates the original appearance of the Three Gorges.The funnel-shaped circular dome directly above the museum building resembles a huge water-collecting tray, taking the meaning of “the water of the Three Gorges comes from the sky”.The exterior walls are made up of large areas of blue glass, which symbolizes water, and ancient sandstone, which represents the mountains.The Three Gorges Museum is divided into four floors and mainly consists of a 360-degree circular screen movie, four basic exhibitions (“Magnificent Three Gorges,” “Chongqing and Chongqing Bay,” “Chongqing: City on the Road,” and “Years of the War of Resistance”), and six special exhibitions.The 360-degree digital film on the first floor showcases the natural scenery and cultural customs of the Three Gorges before the water was stored in the reservoir area, and is a lasting memorial to the Three Gorges.The “Magnificent Three Gorges” exhibition hall has collected a large number of physical objects from the Three Gorges reservoir area, which truly recreates the original appearance of the Three Gorges.The second floor’s “Chongqing: City of the Road” showcases Chongqing’s urban transformation over the past century through a large collection of cultural relics.The “Chongqing Bombing Panorama Museum” on the third floor uses modern technology, sculptures, oil paintings and other forms to recreate the historical events of the Chongqing Bombing.The “Years of Resistance” exhibition uses a wealth of detailed information to showcase the contributions and sacrifices made by the city of Chongqing and its people during the War of Resistance against Japan.The exhibition of historical calligraphy and painting, porcelain, coins and Han Dynasty sculpture on the fourth floor displays thousands of precious cultural relics of various colors, including the famous “Storytelling Figurines”, “Bayu Sacred Birds”, “Wuyang Han Queand other precious cultural relics.The Southwest Ethnic Minority Customs Hall displays the customs and cultures of the various ethnic groups in the southwestern region.

1. The museum has full-time interpreters who provide guided tours in Chinese and English.The Chinese tour costs 120 yuan/session, and the English tour costs 150 yuan/session.
2. Audio guides can also be rented at the entrance to the museum hall for 20 yuan each with a 100 yuan deposit.The audio guide is available in multiple languages.
