Chongqing Chi Jiu Li City

The Chiyu Jiu Li City on the left bank of the Wujiang River in Pengshui County takes the culture of Chiyu, the ancestor of the Miao people, as its main theme, and showcases the traditional culture and architecture of the Miao people in a concentrated manner, full of the rich Miao ethnic customs.

The main buildings in Jiuli City include the Chiyou Grand Hall, the Nine Gates, the Jiuli Palace, the Chiyou Shrine, the Jiuli Pillar, the Big Dipper Pavilion, the Bai Miao Culture Corridor, the Visitor Center, the shopping arcade, the Food Street and other characteristic Miao buildings.

Many inheritors of the intangible cultural heritage of the Miao people will perform their unique skills here, such as walking on the knife edge and crossing the fire sea, as well as exhibitions of ancient cold weapons.Jiuli City also hosts the “Sacrifice to Chiyou Ceremony” on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month and the “Nine Emperor Cultivation Festival” from the first to the ninth day of the ninth lunar month every year.
