Chongqing Heishan Valley Scenic Area

Black Valley is a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction, a forest park, a geological park, a famous leisure mountain in China, a low-carbon tourist attraction in China,a charming scenic spot in Greater China, one of Chongqing’s “New Twelve Scenic Spots of Bayu,” and a model eco-tourism attraction in Chongqing.

The geographical coordinates of Heishan Valley are 106¡ã58’26” east longitude and 28¡ã51’46” north latitude. It is located in the residual range of Dalu Mountain at the transition from the Yungui Plateau to the Sichuan Basin. It is located in the territory of Heishan Town, Wansheng Economic and Technological Development Zone, Chongqing City, 63 kilometers from downtown Chongqing. The scenic area covers an area of 100 square kilometers. The height difference between the top of the mountain and the bottom of the valley is 1,200 meters, the canyon is 13 kilometers long, and the slope on both sides of the river valley is 70-80 degrees.

Heishan Valley is located in the subtropical humid monsoon climate zone of the Sichuan Basin, with a mild climate, abundant rainfall, distinct seasons, a long frost-free period, warm winters and early springs, rainy early summers, hot and dry summers, rainy autumns, and cloudy and sunny winters. It also has the characteristics of a mountainous climate with large regional differences.The average annual temperature is 18.1¡ãC, and the frost-free period lasts 339.2 days.The annual average rainfall is 1277 mm, and the annual average number of hours of sunshine is 1101.6 hours.

Chongqing Heishan Valley Scenic Area is composed of Heishan Valley and Wansheng Stone Forest Scenic Areas. It features unique landscapes such as lofty mountains, forest peaks, secluded valleys, cliffs, forests, bamboo forests, waterfalls, clear waters, caves, ancient plank roads, floating bridges, sea of clouds, idyllic fields, primitive vegetation, rare animals and plants, etc.The scenic area is high in the mountains and densely forested, rarely visited by people. It preserves one of the few intact subtropical and temperate natural ecologies at this latitude on the planet. The forest coverage rate is 97%, and the concentration of negative oxygen ions is as high as 110,000 per cubic centimeter. It is like a natural oxygen bar and is known as the “Chinese Health Preservation Canyon”.It is currently the natural ecological scenic spot with the best-preserved primitive ecological protection in Chongqing. It has been praised by experts as the “Chongqing-Guizhou Biological Gene Bank”, Chongqing’s unique “Biological Gene Bank”, and the “Shennongjia of the Southwest”
