Introduction

People’s Square is a veritable symbol of Shanghai, and the zero kilometer marker for Shanghai’s highways is located here. The Shanghai City Hall, Shanghai Grand Theatre, Shanghai Museum and Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street are all gathered around it. During the day, you can feed the pigeons in the square and stroll along the famous shopping street, and in the evening, go for a swim in the fountain.

People’s Square is a not very large green space, but it is full of lush trees and thousands of doves. If you get tired of walking, you can rest on a bench and feed the doves. In the center of the square is a fountain that sprays water about every half hour at night and continues to spray, which is very beautiful under the illumination of various colors of lights. In the summer, there are always a lot of children and adults playing in the water here, which is a nice place to cool off.

Renmin Square is home to a famous brand street and a shopping center called Dimei, where you can find all kinds of trendy clothing and accessories, as well as nail salons, dessert shops and other fashionable stores. The entrances are located in the northeast and southwest of the square, and it is connected to the subway station.Near the underground exit of Metro Line 2 is an old Shanghai 1930s-style street, which showcases the old cityscape of Shanghai in the 1930s. It is part of the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall.

People’s Square is a transport hub in the city center. Dozens of bus routes stop at Xizang Zhonglu in the east and Wusheng Road in the south, while Metro Lines 1, 2 and 8 also pass through here. The metro exits closer to People’s Square are Exits 1 and 2, located in the northeast corner of the square.
