Introduction

Xintiandi, located near Huaihai Road, was transformed from the old Shikumen alleys of Shanghai. It has now become a must-visit place for Chinese and foreign tourists, as well as a fashionable place frequented by local young people.During the day, you can come here to see beautiful women taking street photos and leisurely enjoy afternoon tea, and at night, you can go from bar to bar, experiencing the nightlife of Shanghai.

Compared to the crowded and small Tianzifang, Xintiandi is more spacious.Restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and cultural establishments are arranged in an orderly manner along a straight pedestrian street. Walking in Xintiandi, you can still see the red and green bricks of the pavement, the red and green exposed brick walls, and the heavy black lacquered doors, as if you have gone back in time and are in Shanghai from the 1920s or 1930s.But once you step inside each building, it is very modern and fashionable. If you’re in the mood, you can also turn into a small alley on the side and take a walk around. The small alleys, which are sparsely populated by tourists, are a great place to take photos, and you’ll see many professional photographers coming here to find a scene.

Xintiandi is divided into two parts: South Block and North Block. South Block is adjacent to Xintiandi Station on Metro Line 10, and is dominated by modern buildings, supplemented by old Shikumen buildings. It is home to a number of unique businesses, where you can not only enjoy Chinese cuisine at Din Tai Fung, but also Japanese cuisine at Koyama, which always has a queue, as well as pizza from Italy at Sbarro and chocolate drinks from Godiva. In addition to dining establishments from around the world, a Xintiandi-style shopping mall has also been built here. This modern glass-walled building houses well-known trendy stores such as Vera Wang’s China flagship store, celebrity trendy store A-Xin’s StayReal, and JJ Lin’s Smudge, as well as a food court, UME Xintiandi cinema, and a one-stop fitness center.

Beili is located next to the Huaihai Road business district. At the entrance to Beili Square is a “Fountain of Happiness” with bronze statues of the three stars of “fortune, wealth and longevity” that make for a great photo opportunity. It is made up of several old Shikumen houses, combined with modern architecture, decor and facilities, and has been transformed into a number of consumer venues and restaurants. The cuisine comes from all over the world, fully demonstrating the international elements of Xintiandi. In addition to well-known restaurants such as South Beauty and Cai Die Xuan, there are also many bars in Beili to enrich your nightlife.
