Introduction

The Porcelain House is a French-style building decorated with countless antique porcelain pieces,Hanbai marble sculptures, crystal, agate, and antique decorations. The walls of the house are densely covered with exquisite ancient Chinese porcelain, and the courtyard and building are full of antiques. The overwhelming number of porcelain antiques often dazzles visitors to the Porcelain House.

The wall of the Porcelain House is made up of hundreds of ancient porcelain vases from the Republic of China and late Qing Dynasty, and is called the “Peace Wall”.The roof is made up of ancient porcelain pieces that form a dragon coiling around the pattern of “China”. Behind the dragon is the Bird’s Nest, the main stadium for the 2008 Olympics, made up of broken porcelain pieces.Look carefully at the right side of the outside of the building. There is a vertical row of porcelain cats extending from the top floor to the corner of the first floor. The porcelain cats are surrounded by crystals and agates. It is amazing that such a grand display is used to decorate a drainpipe.

The entire building has five floors, with the basement closed to the public and the first four floors open to visitors. Each floor is decorated with finely carved antique wooden furniture, and the red walls are covered with porcelain tiles featuring calligraphy and paintings by famous people from China and abroad. In the middle of the first floor is a large Song Dynasty porcelain jar.The second and third floors have balconies with views, and you must look up at the balcony ceilings, which are made up of whole ancient porcelain plates pasted together. The plates that are further towards the center are more valuable.Since the middle of each floor is hollowed out, you can see all the way from the fourth floor to the large porcelain jar in the middle of the first floor.

Facing the Porcelain House, there is a small room on the left hand side, also covered in exquisite porcelain. It is the toilet, and it is worth a look. There is often a long queue in front of the toilet door, as it is a rare and beautiful toilet in the midst of crystal, agate and porcelain.

The exit is on the right-hand side of the Porcelain House. Don’t walk straight out, though. The small room where the exit is located has the “treasure of the museum”.Some of the antique stone statues seen in the courtyard of the porcelain house do not have heads, and the heads are all in the attic of the exit. One of the larger Buddha heads is the “treasure of the museum”. There is a large groove in the center of the Buddha’s eyebrows that was originally used to hold rubies.Photos are not allowed in this room at the exit.

If you’re not satisfied just looking at the Porcelain House, there’s a building with the same style on Tianjin’s Five Avenues (No. 283 Hebei Road), which is not far away.
