Introduction
Jingyuan, built in 1921, was originally named Qianyuan and was the private residence of Lu Zongyu, Minister to Japan of the Beiyang Government. From 1929 to 1931the last emperor Puyi and his empress Wanrong, and concubine Wenxiu lived here.It was renamed “Jingyuan” (Garden of Tranquility), with the intention of observing the situation quietly in order to restore the monarchy.Jingyuan covers an area of about 3,016 square meters, with a building area of 1,900 square meters.There is a brick-and-wood building in the garden, built in a Spanish-style architectural style with some Japanese wooden architectural features.
