Overview of the Five Avenues
A visit to the Five Avenues is currently focused on the more than 2,000 European-style garden buildings on the street, including more than 300 former residences of celebrities. Many celebrities from the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, such as Zhang Xueliang, Wellington Koo, and Aisin Gioro Zai Zhen, left their names. The buildings here are European in style, but they are diverse and each has its own characteristics. The neighborhood is elegant and romantic, and many film and television crews come here to find locations. Wedding photo shoots also like to use the small Western-style houses on the Fifth Avenue as a backdrop.
