Introduction
The Shijia Courtyard is located in the center of the thousand-year-old town ofYangliuqing Town Center. It was originally the residence of Shi Yuanshi, one of the eight great families of Tianjin at the end of the Qing Dynasty. The name of the residence was “Zunmei Hall”, and it was commonly known as the “Shi Family Courtyard” by the world.Built in the early Guangxu period (1875), the Shijia Compound is a large Qing-dynasty private residence with a history of more than 140 years. It covers an area of 7,500 square meters and has a building area of 3,552 square meters.The entire complex consists of 18 courtyards, with typical quadrangles and courtyards within courtyards, a clear axis, and a grand style.The brickwork, woodwork and stone carvings are exquisite and expressive, with auspicious meanings, and the playhouse in the courtyard is one of the best-preserved and largest enclosed playhouses in a private residence in China.The Shijia Courtyard was once known as “the best house in North China” and “the best house in Tianjin.”
